Bonnie Beecher

Bonnie Beecher returns to the Shaw Festival as lighting designer for Misalliance and Come Back, Little Sheba. In past seasons, Bonnie has served as lighting designer for One Touch of Venus, In Good King Charles’s Golden Days, The Apple Cart, The Shop at Sly Corner, The Two Mrs Carrolls, The Conjuror Part 2 and Overruled.

Her recent lighting design credits include the Royal Shakespeare Company/National Arts Centre’s production of The Penelopiad; Opera Atelier’s Idomeneo; Theatre Panik’s production of My Name is Rachel Corrie; Theatre Aquarius’s A Woman in White; Kevin O’Day Ballet Mannheim’s Beethoven, Chopin, Chansons; Ballet Jörgen’s The Group of Seven Nutcracker; Canadian Opera Company’s productions of Don Giovanni and Renard; Soulpepper’s productions of Black Comedy and The Real Inspector Hound; and the Dutch Nation Ballet’s Woolf.

She has worked with many of this nation’s notable artistic companies including the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Canadian Stage, National Ballet of Canada, Ballet B.C., Tarragon Theatre and Volcano Theatre. Her international work includes La Traviata with the New Zealand Opera; Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Time and Other Matters; the Mannheim Opera’s Tristan and Isolde; as well as over twelve new works for Kevin O’Day Ballet Mannheim.

Bonnie has designed lighting for over one hundred and fifty productions in theatre, opera and dance. She is the recipient of two Dora Awards and eleven Dora nominations.
