Louise Guinand

Ms Louise Guinand returns to the Shaw Festival as lighting designer for A Man and Some Women. Last season Louise designed the lighting for Lennox Robinson’s Drama at Inish – A Comedy and for Michael Healey’s new adaptation of Bernard Shaw’s On the Rocks.
Previous credits for The Shaw include John Bull’s Other Island, Harvey, Play, Orchestra, Play, Ways of the Heart, A Moon for the Misbegotten, Wonderful Town, The Stepmother, Getting Married, The Philanderer, The Circle, Arms and The Man, The Heiress, The Magic Fire, Journey’s End, The Autumn Garden, Three Men on a Horse, Rutherford and Son, Geneva, The Voysey Inheritance and The Waltz of the Toreadors.
Recently Louise designed lighting for The 39 Steps (Globe Theatre); The Great Gatsby, Cinderella, To Master the Art (Grand Theatre); Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure (Theatre Aquarius); White Biting Dog (Soulpepper); The Winter’s Tale (Stratford Shakespeare Festival).
A recipient of numerous Dora Mavor Moore Award and Sterling nominations, Louise has designed lighting for over 450 productions across Canada and the United States. Theatres she has designed lighting for include Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Canadian Stage Company, National Arts Centre, The Grand Theatre, Manitoba Theatre Centre, Globe Theatre, Canadian Opera Company, Citadel Theatre, Vancouver Playhouse, Soulpepper, Tarragon Theatre, Blyth Festival, Theatre Aquarius, Centaur Theatre, Arena Stage (Washington), Kennedy Centre and New York Shakespeare Festival.
She also designed Aspects of Love in the Elgin Theatre and for its U.S. tour, resulting in a Dora Mavor Moore Award.
Louise is a graduate of Queen’s University and the National Theatre School.
