Moya O'Connell

Ms Moya O’Connell returns to the Shaw Festival for her fifth season, appearing in Present Laughter and Hedda Gabler. She was last seen on the Shaw stages as Maggie in Tennessee Wiliams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and as Catherine in The Admirable Crichton by J.M. Barrie. Previous Shaw roles and credits include Mrs Cheveley in Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband and as Crystal Allen in Clare Boothe Luce’s The Women, Sheila Birling in J.B. Priestley’s An Inspector Calls, Vivie Warren in Bernard Shaw’s Mrs Warren’s Profession, A Month in the Country and The Circle.

Originally from the West Coast, Moya spent six seasons at Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival in Vancouver where she appeared as Portia in The Merchant of Venice (Jessie Richardson nomination), Imogen in Cymbeline, Ophelia in Hamlet (Jessie Richardson nomination), Miranda in The Tempest, Helen of Troy in Troilus & Cressida, Luciana in The Comedy of Errors, Lady Mortimer in Henry IV part 1, Emelia and Mopsa in The Winter’s Tale, Ophelia in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead and Lady MacDuff in Macbeth.

Other favourite productions include Vincent in Brixton (Vancouver Playhouse); The Constant Wife, Enchanted April (Arts Club Theatre); It’s All True (Touchstone Theatre); The Tempest (Saidye Bronfman Theatre); Tiger’s Heart (Centaur Theatre); Pink Sugar (Vancouver’s Solo Collective).
