Moya O'Connell

In her sixth season at the Shaw Festival, Moya O’Connell appears as Commissar Elizaveta Poskaya in Peace in Our Time: A Comedy and as Lotty Wilton in Enchanted April. Last season, she was seen as Joanna Lyppiatt in Present Laughter and as the haunted title character in Hedda Gabler.

Previous Shaw credits include Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Catherine in The Admirable Crichton, Mrs. Cheveley in Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband, Crystal Allen in Clare Boothe Luce’s The Women, Sheila Birling in J.B. Priestley’s An Inspector Calls, Vivie Warren in Bernard Shaw’s Mrs Warren’s Profession, A Month in the Country and The Circle.

Recent theatre credits include Boeing-Boeing (Arts Club Theatre Company).

Originally from the West Coast, Moya spent six seasons at Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival in Vancouver where she appeared as Portia in The Merchant of Venice (Jessie Richardson nomination), Imogen in Cymbeline, Ophelia in Hamlet (Jessie Richardson nomination), Miranda in The Tempest, Helen of Troy in Troilus & Cressida, Luciana in The Comedy of Errors, Lady Mortimer in Henry IV part 1, Emelia and Mopsa in The Winter’s Tale, Ophelia in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead and Lady MacDuff in Macbeth.

Other favourite productions include Vincent in Brixton (Vancouver Playhouse); The Constant Wife, Enchanted April (Arts Club Theatre); It’s All True (Touchstone Theatre); The Tempest (Saidye Bronfman Theatre); Tiger’s Heart (Centaur Theatre); Pink Sugar (Vancouver’s Solo Collective).
