Selma Dimitrijevic - Shaw Festival Theatre

Selma Dimitrijevic
Director

SHAW 2025: Director for The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Originally from Croatia, I grew up around theatre – my aunts and uncles were ballet dancers, so rehearsals were my childhood playground. I started as a dancer before realizing my real passion was storytelling and creating live experiences. The best training I ever had? Coaching volleyball. Directing is just coaching in disguise – my job is to make sure the team has the best conditions to do their best work. At the Shaw, I’ve worked on Mother Daughter and had a fantastic time on Baroness and The Pig. Other credits include The Last Ship, Sting’s large-scale musical, which toured internationally. These days, I also work as a Creative Director for 59 Studio, currently designing audience experiences in Macau, Dubai and London. My favourite audience review? A kid once shouted, “It’s like movies but better!” – which, honestly, might be the best compliment I’ll ever get.
