Corporate Partnership - Shaw Festival Theatre

The Shaw Festival is one of North America’s leading cultural organizations.

Sponsor Initiatives

The Shaw Festival believes that an investment in the arts is a valuable one, and our generous sponsors feel the same. So much so that new initiatives have been brought into our programming for 2016, including:

Theatre for All

Sun Life has a long history of supporting arts and culture in Canada and believes that the arts should be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of their financial means. In 2004 they created their own award-winning Making the Arts More Accessible™ program – the focus of their philanthropic support of the arts. The Shaw Festival is delighted to partner with Sun Life Financial to launch the reinvented Theatre for All program.

The Theatre for All program, presented by Sun Life Financial as part of their Making the Arts More Accessible™ program, allows us to work with local Niagara Region social service agencies such as the United Way and Family and Children’s Services to distribute 300 tickets each season to deserving individuals, children and their families, so they have the opportunity to experience our wonderful performances, when they may not have had an opportunity otherwise.

Stage Door

The Stage Door Program was inspired by Scotiabank’s dedication to giving back to Canadian communities, and desire to ignite and celebrate the unique passions of their residents, particularly the youth. The Stage Door program offers 20 classrooms an opportunity to experience a Festival Theatre Tour, Workshop with a Shaw Professional, and a matinee performance of Alice in Wonderland. With the help and generosity of Scotiabank, we hope experiencing a full day at The Shaw will ignite a passion for the Arts in these youths that will last a lifetime because, as Bernard Shaw has said, “Without art, the crudeness of reality would make the world unbearable”.

Sponsor Spotlight

Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life

For more than 30 years Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life have generously supported the Shaw Festival – and since 2004 have been our largest supporter of Educational programming. As a leading Canadian insurer, Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life offer financial and benefit plan solutions and serve the financial security needs of more than 12 million people.

Their support of the Shaw Festival benefits more than 6,000 students per season, allowing us to offer workshops with Shaw professionals, tours of our main-stage theatre, and chats with our Ensemble members. We believe that exposing youth to theatre and educating them on the arts can engage their creativity and ignite a live long passion.

Our educational programming does not end with students however. We also wish to further expand the skills of educators in drama through our Teachers Days, as well as providing Study Guide for several of our performances for teachers to use within their classrooms. None of this would be possible, however, without the loyal support of Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life.

For the past three seasons, insurance company GUARANTEE GOLD® has sponsored the Tuesday Q&A Program. GUARANTEE GOLD® is committed to delivering innovative coverage and the highest degree of customer satisfaction, a value we share at The Shaw.

Our Tuesday Q & As are a complimentary offering after all regular Tuesday evening performances, where members of the cast and stage management return to the stage for an informal question and answer period. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our patrons to ask questions about the production they’ve just watched, and about The Shaw in general. These sessions are always incredibly informative and enjoyed by all in attendance. Educational offerings such as these would not be possible without our generous partners, and we thank GUARANTEE GOLD® for ensuring the Tuesday Q&A Program will continue to provide a higher degree of customer satisfaction to our patrons.

Paradigm Capital

On Saturday July 23 our Studio Theatre production of The Dance of Death had its official Opening. Staff and Ensemble, high level donors, and even the Swedish Consulate of Toronto were in attendance for the reception and a delightful dinner under the tent on the South Lawn.

Also in attendance were representatives of the production’s sponsor Paradigm Capital Inc, including company President and Shaw Board Member Ian Joseph. Ian was presented with a framed production photo, a symbol of our thanks for the generosity of Paradigm’s continued support of our most challenging and contemporary pieces. Thank you for your continued support Ian – you elevate us too!
