Duty of Care - Shaw Festival Theatre

Duty of Care
During your visit to the theatre, your well-being is top of mind. To that effect the Shaw Festival is committed to the following health and safety measures:

Beginning September 22, 2021, and in conjunction with the Provincial mandate for theatres and many other public gathering places, all Shaw Festival patrons will need to provide proof of full vaccination status with either a Health Canada or CDC authorized vaccine.

“Fully vaccinated” means that the date of attendance must be at least 14 days after receiving either the second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or 14 days following a single dose vaccine (i.e.: Johnson & Johnson).

An official proof of vaccination receipt — displayed either on a smartphone or with a physical copy of the proof of vaccination — must be presented at time of entry into The Shaw along with a performance ticket.

All patrons 18 years or older must also present a government-issued photo ID. Patrons younger than
18 may use a government-issued photo ID or school photo ID. Patrons under 12 must be accompanied by adults, all of whom must meet the above requirements.

Children under 12, who are accompanied by an adult that meets the above vaccination requirements, will be allowed entry in accordance with the prevailing medical guidance at the time of the performance.

Exceptions will be made only for patrons who provide proof of exemption as required by the Province. American patrons may use the same vaccination documentation that allowed for their border crossing.

For your safety, as well as that of our artists and staff, and in accordance with this Provincial order, the Shaw Festival will not admit any patrons who are unable to provide this required documentation.

Mask wearing remains mandatory for both outdoor and indoor events, concerts and performances.
This includes all areas of our theatres and during performances. Distancing and capacity reductions within our theatres remain in place.

We anticipate being required to maintain many of these protocols throughout the remainder of 2021
and until the Provincial Government allows for a relaxation of these requirements.

As government guidance is rapidly evolving, our protocols will likewise be amended and updated as necessary.

Full refunds will be made available to any patron wishing to cancel their tickets for any reason prior to the performance.

The Shaw Festival has been awarded a Safe travels stamp, which is recognized globally for adopting proper, standardized health and hygiene protocols.

We require – for the safety of other patrons and our artists – that patrons who are unwell stay home and contact the Box Office to reschedule their visit to The Shaw. Exchange fees will be waived for all cases of illness. Please rest assured that the Shaw Festival also has the safety and well-being of its staff and artists at heart and has protocols in place to ensure this. All of our Retail, Front of House, Box Office and Food & Beverage staff will be wearing masks or face shields, as required by the local public health authority.
